The March To The Olympics.
Many of the skateboard industry intelligentsia have convinced themselves that it is Manifest Destiny. And so the positioning, the scheming, the slinking in the shadows is in full swing— All in the hope of securing a piece of the pie, or an appointment of status, or at the very least to just be in the conversation. All in the great name of supply and demand! In these noble efforts, all Native and Primitive Cultures must comply, assimilate and be absorbed. It is justified and inevitable. This is the corporate way. And in the hands of our leaders, skateboarding is now nothing more than a calf being fattened for slaughter. And who will dine at this great feast? And what banner will they wave with pride and honor as they pat themselves on the back? Telling themselves that this brings our culture the legitimacy that we had always fought for and so rightly deserve — And how they did it all for us.
